What HTI Nicaragua Is
Our team partners with national leaders in Nicaragua to offer Henderson Training Institute (HTI)—a two-year theological training program equipping pastors and church leaders from Nicaragua and Honduras for local and global ministry.
Chris leads an effort to educate and equip Pastors in Central America. This project began in 2017 and his contribution from the beginning is the development of the curriculum, oversight of teaching, and recruiting and training teachers to travel to the school. In partnership with local leaders–students attend a rotation of classes over a two-year period to gain a certificate of completion that enhances their ability to lead the church in Central America and disciple Christians in the younger generation.
How the Training Works
HTI Nicaragua is not a short seminar. Over two years, pastors and church leaders from Nicaragua and Honduras take rotating courses in Scripture, theology, and pastoral practice. Classes are taught in partnership with national leaders, and visiting instructors help develop local faculty rather than replace them. The aim is the same test we keep coming back to in Somotillo: can these leaders teach faithfully when outside teachers are no longer in the room? The fourth cohort graduated in December 2025; the fifth began in January 2026. Related teaching from that work includes the 2025 graduation address and a recent course on contextualization.
The school–HTI Nicaragua–graduated its fourth class in December 2025 and began its fifth in January 2026–expansion efforts of this ministry to more locations in Central America and Colombia are in progress.
