This page serves as a working snapshot of the writing, teaching, formation, and global ministry work I am currently engaged in. These projects are all oriented toward equipping the Church, supporting pastoral and lay discipleship, and recovering a thick theological vision of the human person made in God’s image. Much of the work is intentionally deliberate and layered. Not everything here will produce public “content” on a predictable schedule—and that is by design. This is less a performance update than a public record of sustained attention and direction.
Formational Writing & Publishing
This month included significant progress on multiple writing and publishing efforts that serve both the academic Church and recovery ministry contexts.
I recently updated the publication proposal for my first book, Divine Impassibility and the Holy Spirit: Nicene Retrieval, Divine–Human Interaction, and the Healing Work of God, a substantially revised manuscript of my dissertation, including restructured chapters, expanded constructive material, and a reworked introduction and conclusion to address a broader discipling readership.
I am revising an article on the rise of passibility in twentieth-century theology for resubmission to the Scottish Journal of Theology. Additionally, a review I wrote of O. Padilla’s The Pastoral Epistles commentary is scheduled for publication in an upcoming issue of Bulletin of Biblical Research.
I am currently in the content-editing phase of a Recovery Ministry Handbook written for the recovery ministry I direct. In April, I will also be writing a review of Covenant Theology (Waters, Reid, Muehlhauser, eds.), along with an accompanying essay for The Ledger.
Local Discipleship & Recovery Ministry
Recovery ministry remains a primary context for discipleship, leadership formation, and pastoral care.
I am currently leading a Pastor’s Step Study, now in part three of a four-part series. These studies continue to serve as a safe and formative space for pastors engaging recovery and discipleship together. If you are interested in future studies, you are welcome to reach out directly.
Celebrate Recovery continues to meet every Monday evening. We will teach Lesson 7 (Sponsor) on March 30. April will include our Easter theme meeting, a testimony, and Lessons 8 and 9. Audio updates and reflections are available, and ongoing recovery-specific updates can also be found at EdmondCR.com.
Global Theological Formation
International theological education and pastor training continue to mature and expand.
HTI Nicaragua met this month for leadership development and lecture in Old Testament Survey. Expansion efforts continue in other areas of Central America. In addition, I am working with colleagues in Colombia to establish a pastoral training school modeled after the curriculum developed and implemented in Central America. Our first partner-site visit and planning trip is scheduled for August 22–30, 2026.
In April, I will also serve on a D.Min. defense committee at PTS College & Advanced Studies. More information about how I support people at risk through Ethné Global Services can be found here.
Teaching, Preaching & Pastoral Engagement
This season includes several opportunities for teaching, testimony, and pastoral engagement.
I will deliver my annual He Is Risen message on April 6 at Henderson Hills Baptist Church, teaching from Hebrews 11 and focusing on God’s power in the resurrection of Christ. This message serves as the Resurrection Celebration for the Recovery Ministry at Ministries of Jesus.
I will also share my testimony and teach the lesson “Confess” online for a Japanese church on April 21 and June 16. In addition, I will soon begin editing my Counseling Theory and Methods course in preparation for the Fall 2026 semester.
Ongoing Study & Research
Ongoing reading and research continue to inform teaching, writing, and recovery integration.
I am currently in year two of the M’Cheyne two-year daily Bible reading plan. Much of my current reading is tied to upcoming book and article projects, particularly work related to the Image of God, sin, and integration of theology with counseling approaches (especially EFT).
I am also developing a three-year daily reading plan for Karl Barth’s Church Dogmatics, with the intention of beginning that plan in 2027. You can view my current print and digital reading activity anytime on LibraryThing. If you would like a copy of my Logos library spreadsheet, feel free to email a request.
Why This Matters
All of this work—recovery ministry, theological education, writing, teaching, and global partnership—serves a single aim: forming people through discipleship and sending them to educate and disciple others. Whether in local recovery communities or international pastoral training contexts, the goal remains the same: faithful formation for long-term service in the Church and the world.
